Wymondham Photographic Society is a popular photographic club established in 1969 in the Wymondham area, we are affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through membership of the East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies. We are located in Wymondham but serve all the surrounding area, having members from Attleborough, East Harling, Watton, Norwich, Long Stratton and many other villages in the region.
We are a friendly and social group dedicated to enjoying the art and practice of photography, we are not a club focused purely on competition, although we do enjoy regular photographic competitions, both within the club itself, and with other regional clubs and federation wide.
We meet weekly on Tuesdays (excepting major holidays) from 8-10pm at the Wymondham Dell Bowls Centre during our season, which runs from September through to June. A full list of upcoming meetings and the yearly calendar are available on this site, and from Google Calendars. Our spacious venue is easy to find, has parking facilities and is equipped with a full bar which also serves tea and coffee. The bowls club also make available to us a large permanently installed projection screen which was chosen specifically to complement to our club’s new high definition widescreen digital projector.
Meetings can take many forms, from competitions to tutorials, guest speakers or audio/visual presentations, workshop evenings where members bring along images for advice and suggestions, and location outings.
We welcome those of all abilities, from beginners to experts, our aim is to enjoy photography and nurture and inspire each other so that we can all get the most from this pastime. Digital or Film? It doesn’t matter. The end result is a photograph, and that’s what counts. You don’t need the latest fully featured Digital SLR camera to join in, we have members using all kinds of cameras, from smartphones to large format film cameras! If you’re stuck with something you don’t understand, someone will be able to help, we have a wealth of knowledge and experience in our members who are always happy to lend a helping hand.
New members are always welcome, and we encourage you to come along to a meeting and get a feel for what our club is about. Contact our “Membership” committee member and have a chat about coming to a meeting, it won’t cost you anything, and we hope you’ll decide to stay.
The club has modest membership fees, which are collected on a yearly basis and help the club pay for our venue, necessary insurance fees, Federation membership, equipment for the club, competition entry fees and so on, and as a non-profit organisation, all fees exclusively go towards the running of the club.
We hope to see you at a meeting!
