Member Groups

Wymondham Photographic Society has two groups for members to get involved in outside the club meetings, Portrait Group and Landscape Group.

The Portrait Group is run by Pro photographer Geoff Long and club member Charles Phillips, and have a session each month with models looking at different lighting techniques etc. This is a great way to learn and hone studio skills in a friendly environment, with plenty of help on hand if needed. See opposite for info on upcoming sessions and a link to the booking website.

The Landscape group is run by club member Dennis Gardner, and he will choose different spots to visit that suit landscape photography enthusiasts. These are weather dependant, so usually Dennis will send an e-mail out to everyone when he has a location and shoot planned.

Wednesday 9th September
Underwater Look.
Location: The Dell. We will be re-creating an underwater look, which is something that I recently worked on and is a very interesting and creative process to create a real underwater appearance in a studio situation, wellies, flippers etc will not be needed its all lights and mirrors. All you need is your camera and a suitable lens, anything around 50mm will be absolutely fine.
 
Wednesday 30th September
Model on water Look.
Location: The Dell. We will be following up on the water theme by creating pictures that appear to have our model laying in water, again created in the studio with nobody actually getting wet. Just bring your camera and a suitable lens anything around 50mm will be perfect and we can create some interesting images,
 
Sunday 25th October 
 
Autumn and Church Shoot 12.00 – 14.30
 Location: West Harling
 
An opportunity to shoot with our selected models, using the autumnal colours, as well as in a disused church. The church is in West Harling and is surrounded by woodland where we will be able to get some great Autumnal shots. We will also have access to the church which, although disused, is intact and has some great light for some internal shooting. We will, of course, have our models on hand for you to work with.

Portrait Light Painting 19.30

Wednesday 9th December 
 
Film Noire 19.30
Location: The Dell
 
We will be attempting to recreate the Hollywood “Film Noire” look of the 40s and 50s using our male and female models, we will be shooting for black and white images.
 
Lets play with light, we will be exploring light painting in conjunction with portrait photography. Everyone will have an opportunity to use this interesting technique to create some very different effects. This event will be limited to only 6 attendees, if it becomes over subscribed we will repeat the evening on another date.
